Hello there,
You shall experience
NO DOWNTIME during the switch
We're doing the changes one step at a time; we are moving NS2.NAVIGATORIS.NET first and then we will be moving NM.NAVIGATORIS.NET once all the domains have settled with the new IP's.
We estimate about 7 days for the completition of this implementantion. 3 days to update DNS IP's worldwide to new ones (so the new servers start to get used at full).
While we switch one at a time, the second or main DNS server will still be working as it is.
As the internet is ment to be, if a request to get the DNS records of the domain fails at the primary/secondary name server, the computer will ask to the other name server and see if it responds.
Example:
Myprettysite.net
Your ISP asks NS2.NAVIGATORIS.NET about the address to send e-mail to (which server to send the e-mail contents to?)
NS2.NAVIGATORIS.NET (as it is moving to a new server, will not reply) - then the ISP DNS server will ask the OTHER name server that's left, which is NM.NAVIGATORIS.NET
I'm 100% sure the changes won't affect your site as it is not being done all at once but in steps. One at a time.
Let me know if you have any other questions
