Taiwanese passive component manufacturers (makers of non-electrical computer components), are claiming that next-gen Apple laptops may be powered by AMD processors along with or instead of Intel chips. The argument goes further pointing out that ATI graphics already power Macbooks, and AMD is busy making babies with life partner ATI. But we're calling bullshit–not based upon contracts, mergers or the cost of supporting a two-child household– but the simplicity of Apple's product line. If Apple has banked on any one philosophy in selling computers, it's that people like LESS choices. Furthermore, the last thing anyone wants is for Apple to start screwing with their products when second generation hardware is finally out. – Mark Wilson Apple Laptops to be Powered by AMD Chips [mobilemag] |
