As Microsoft's a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/2008/10/29/hd-netflix-streaming-comes-to-xbox-360-first/"Xbox 360/a skyrockets up the list of most wanted movie set-top-boxes and units like the Roku Netflix Player a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/2008/11/03/rokus-netflix-player-handling-hd-content-by-the-end-of-the-yea/"hold the promise/a of incorporating HD downloads in the near future, along comes the flagging a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/tag/Blockbuster/"Blockbuster/a to put up a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/2008/08/05/blockbuster-tests-movie-download-service-dvd-rental-kiosks/"a mild fight/a. In a move that's half baffling and half expected, the DVD rental company is reportedly looking to pump out a a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/2008/06/04/ask-engadget-hd-which-movie-set-top-box-is-best/"movie STB/a of its own for the holiday season. That's according to CEO Jim Keyes, who said as much on a recent conference call with investors. Unfortunately, he passed along no other pertinent information whatsoever, though he did mention a "Blockbuster-branded widget on Intel-manufactured chips embedded in IPTV monitors" for next year. Good luck Blockbuster, you'll probably need it.br /br /[Via a href="http://newteevee.com/2008/11/08/blockbuster-launching-set-top-box-for-the-holidays/"NewTeeVee/a]p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/11/10/blockbuster-could-release-its-own-movie-set-top-box/"Blockbuster could release its own movie set-top-box/a originally appeared on a href="http://www.engadget.com"Engadget/a on Mon, 10 Nov 2008 10:12:00 EST.
