![]() Here we go. Sony's bringing out their big guns. 4:46: And by big guns, we mean a dude with a violin. (While holding a beer, Travis says: "if you take away the violin, he looks like he has downs syndrome.") 4:50: Yes, Sony's seriously paying one bajillion dollars so press can sit here and listen to a Grammy award-winning violinist. 4:52: Sir Howard's here. 4:53: The press are divided up into four sections, and steady-cams are following the "action" around, broadcasted on screens in front of each section. 4:54: Hoo! PlayStation 3 time. 4:55: Sony plans to ship six million PS3s by March '07. 4:56: Sony's still sticking their "only console to bring you full 1080p in gaming" line. While technically true, the 360 does do 1080p as well. 4:58: You'll be able to view PS3 hard drive content via your PSP from any wireless location soon. No date, but "soon". 5:00: Flow will be launched later this month on the PS3 Store. 5:01: A PS3 game montage is being shown. Weeeee, nothing we haven't seen before. 5:04: Sony was #1 in total dollars and units in 2006. ![]() 5:06: Talking about some upcoming upcoming sets: 71-inch Bravia, KDL-70XBR3, with Motion Flow technology, and has the "fastest refresh rate" of any Sony display. 5:07: They've got a prototype for another upcoming display: an 80-inch Bravia. "You don't need a wall to hang this on, this IS the wall!" ![]() 5:10: Now we're talking about the Sony camcorders, HDCams. Introducing 16 different camcorders in three storage formats. HDD, MiniDV, and DVD. 5:14: Moving on to Sony digital cams—point and shoots and DSLRs. Sony Alpha and various other things we've already covered before. 5:16: Sony put in a dig to various "other" manufacturers here that we'll spare you from. ![]() 5:17: Now the portable media guy is here. He's digging out their UMPCs, Vaios, and Sony Reader ("the Walkman of the written word"). 5:17: This is new. The VAIO Wireless Music System lets you stream music from your PC to "anywhere in your house." 5:20: Back to old stuff again, like the mylo and the LocationFree. ![]() 5:24: Guy's announcing Sony's first internet streaming system to stream HD. All Bravias this Spring has a module to take an input to stream HD internet content. Bravia Internet Video Link. 5:25: You connect directly to the internet without a PC, and control everything from your standard remote. 5:27: AOL Video content is going to be streamed to these TVs. Yahoo's in as well. 5:30: To Demo this, Sony's demoing a lady sneezing. Seriously. 20 seconds of that at 120db. 5:32: They're bringing the PS3/PSP Cross Media Bar into Bravia TVs as well. Looks like they're staying the course. 5:32: You can get weather, traffic and news via RSS to your TV with the internet connection. This will be on S-Series Bravia TVs, which are compatible with the internet module. 5:35: Oooh, Spiderman 3 trailer. This is worth 45 minutes of old news, sure! 5:37: Well, that's it! Thanks for watchin. Go Spidey!~ – Jason Chen |
