Default I need a little mysql help

I'm trying to install a link managing site. I've tried several different ones and get the same error every time. I upgraded my install of open-real and I did everything correct, but I forgot how. I need a tutorial on this, anyway here's the problem.

I go into mysql and create a database, example: links and the name will come out as oahu***_link, not just link, then I make a username and password, example: user = user pass = pass and the username comes out like this: oahu***_user.
so I have:
database = oahu***_link
user = oahu***_user
pass = pass

now the php installs I'm using will want this info:
"database host", "Database username", "Database Password" and "Database Name".
Here's my main question, what do I put in these, i tried
Database Host: is this just oahu***.com?
Database Username: is this user as I created or oahu***_user?
Database Password: then is this just pass or something like oahu***_pass
Database Name: and is this oahu***_link

and another install is asking for Database Server, is that the same as Database Host?

Here is my error, every time I try to install I get this:
Access denied for user 'oahu***_bryan'@'mainstream.navigatoris.us' (using password: YES) or Warning: mysql_connect(): Access denied for user 'b****'@'mainstream.navigatoris.us' (using password: YES) in /home2/oahu***/public_html/sslinks/install.php on line 74
Unable to connect to database server.

I tried all the combinations of user pass, and couldn't get anything to work, as I stated, I'm not that knowledgeable in this area.

I was wondering if there was a mysql problem, because I had errors when trying to install from fantastico. I installed PHP-Nuke, Post-Nuke, Xoops, Noahs Classifieds and the one I really need to work is Dew-NewPHPLinks and all wouldn't work. The common problem is after install my username and password is not accepted.

You are not giving permissions for user X to access X DB. You need to do that on cPanel.

Database Host: is this just oahu***.com? No. It's "localhost" without quotes.

Database Password: then is this just pass or something like oahu***_pass

The pass is "pass" as you said. Not user_pass.

That was it, local host. I did it right the first time when I installed the new version of open-real (the one on fantastico was full of bugs) but I forgot how I did it.
I know you don't support this, so I really appreciate your help. I'm launching a new web site that needs a php script, it would be way to hard for a site like this without and that's why I needed your, or someones, help.
A friend of mine in Michigan started a site http://absolutemichigan.com/ and it got 20,000 hits last month, so I'm doing that same in oahu http://oahu4u.com the script is @ http://oahu4u.com/sslinks/links.php

I need to add, I just love your service and price, good job
