Default Support for Active Server Pages & MySQL 5

I seem to be having issues viewing aspx files on my site:

www.batesbryanwedding.com/login.aspx

Why is this? Also, do you know if there are any plans to move to MySql 5.0?

Thanks!

Tony

Default Was I just being thick?

Ahhh.... is this because I've used ASP.NET not plain ol' ASP? Is ASP definitely enabled?

Hello Tony,

ASP is only well supported on Windows Servers, and since we use Redhat linux servers we can't provide the support for Active Server Pages (ASP)

We haven't migrated to mySQL 5 yet, because our control panel software is not yet stable under that version. Also, upgrading to mySQL 5 might cause problems with the way the databases are accessed thru PHP.

Once mySQL 5 is fully supported and stable in our control panel, we will upgrade all our servers to it.

If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to post.

Francisco

Right, all makes sense. I really think that you need to remove the listing of ASP support from your website (http://navigatoris.net/shared-index.php?id=SHA1001#7), as this was one of the reasons I used you guys! If this was a business website I'd be peeved, but as its only a noddy personal site I'll make do with CGI/Perl (not that I know how to use it!).

Man, feels like I'm always whining! Sorry!

It will be corrected, in the past there was a free apache module that allowed us to offer "active server pages" on linux, of course it was never the real ASP that windows has. It was just an 'interpreter' of code using the Perl scripting engine to decode it / execute it.

Not many people use ASP, as a matter of fact. You're the first one to request ASP.

Since we only have 1% of our current customers that would like to employ ASP, we choosed not to spend $500 on a license of Chilisoft ASP (info: http://www.cosmicscripts.com/servers/addingasp.html ).

We always thought that if we were going to start offering ASP hosting, it would include ASP.net and MSSQL Databases. All on a Windows server.

Don't worry, you are free to express your comments / concerns.

Have a nice day,
Francisco
